Jeremiah 29:11...and beyond. Wednesday, October 2. 2013.

“For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11

This is a really cool verse.
It is a commonly used verse to encourage others on their journey of life.

This verse is comforting because the Lord is saying,
“Your life? I have it all planned out. I got this. Don’t worry.”

But…I think we often add to that,
“Now I get to sit back, relax, and enjoy how my life plays out.”

Maaaaybe?
No, not really.
Actually, not at all.

Does anyone ever read Jeremiah 29:12-14?
I definitely had not up until yesterday.

Jeremiah 29:11 is fantastic.
But there is more to it.

When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me.”
Jeremiah 29:12-14

He has our futures planned out.
Awesome.
Fantastic.
He has good plans for us.
Plans to give us a future filled with hope.
Praise God.

But the follow-up to that is
He wants us to call upon Him
and come to Him,
and pray to Him,
and look for Him,
and seek Him with all of our hearts.

And in turn?
He will listen to us,
and He will let us find Him.

He wants to talk about our futures with us.
He wants to be part of it all.
He is the most humble proud Father. Ever.
Seek Him out.
Let Him be a part of the future that He has so perfectly planned for you.

How blessed we are to have such a gracious God.
A God who has so earnestly carved out every millisecond of our futures,
and a God who wants to ensure that we spend time with Him,
and a God who promises to be there when we seek Him out.

Relax,
God has your future covered.
Now, take the extra time that you would have spent worrying about your future
to call upon Him,
to come to Him,
to pray to Him,
to look for Him,
and to seek Him with your whole heart.
